Admission of private schools thru lottery this year too
The Ministry of Education has published the policy for admission of students in private schools at secondary, lower secondary and combined primary level.
The policy was published by Directorate Of Secondary & Higher Education of the ministry on Monday (October 28), mentioning that this year also the process of student selection and admission will be held through lottery.
According to the policy, students can be admitted in all classes up to class IX subject to the availability of seats in the class. The new academic year will be from January 1 to December 31. The number of students in each section of class will be 55.
The policy also states that MPO-affiliated educational institutions in the capital can charge a maximum admission fee of Tk 5,000. Partially MPO-affiliated educational institutions can charge admission fee of Tk 8,000 and the admission fee for the English version is Tk 10,000. Institutions in the capital cannot charge more than Tk 3,000 as development fee. Session charges can be charged every year after passing the annual examination in the same institution. However, re-admission fee will not be charged.
As per National Education Policy-2010, admission of 6+ students must be ensured. However, the minimum age of the student shall be five years as on January 1 and maximum seven years as on December 31 of the desired academic year. The date and time of digital lottery programme and application fee will be decided centrally by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education will centrally complete all activities related to the admission process through digital lottery.
