Advance train ticket sales for Eid journeys begin today

Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance train tickets to ensure hassle-free return journeys for people heading home for the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. On the first day of advance ticket sales, Friday, March 13, tickets for journeys on March 23 are available.

For the convenience of passengers, seven-day advance tickets for inter-city trains are being sold under a special arrangement this time as well. Bangladesh Railway is selling 100 per cent of tickets online.

Ticket sales for all inter-city trains in the western zone began online at 8:00 am. On the other hand, advance ticket sales for inter-city trains in the eastern zone will begin at 2:00 pm.

These decisions were made at a recent preparatory meeting for special train services for Eid-ul-Fitr held at Rail Bhaban in the capital.

According to the railway announcement, tickets for March 24 will be sold on March 14, March 25 tickets on March 15, March 26 tickets on March 16, March 27 tickets on March 17, March 28 tickets on March 18, and March 29 tickets on March 19.

Additionally, ticket sale dates for journeys on March 20, 21 and 22 will be determined based on the sighting of the moon. Upon passenger request, standing tickets equivalent to 25 per cent of total seats in non-AC coaches will be available from the originating station before the journey.

A passenger can purchase advance Eid tickets only once and will have the opportunity to book a maximum of four seats. However, Bangladesh Railway has informed that these tickets are non-refundable.
