Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has urged the media to comply with the court order regarding the broadcast of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's statements. He said it would not be appropriate for Bangladeshi media to directly broadcast her statements while the court's restriction remains in place.

He made the appeal during a briefing at the Information Department's conference room on Tuesday, June 30.

Regarding the recent interview of Sheikh Hasina given to Indian media outlet NDTV being broadcast by some local media, the adviser said many media outlets are doing this. "They are not following the court's directives — this is a reality," he said.

The adviser said the government is not taking a strict stance on this matter for now. However, he emphasised that the media should respect the law and court orders, and the government is considering taking action if necessary in the future.

Dr Zahed acknowledged that when Sheikh Hasina's statements are published in foreign media, they reach people through various channels. However, he said it is not appropriate for domestic media to broadcast them while the court's ban remains in effect.
