The Advisory Council has approved the national budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The approval was granted on Monday, June 2. This marks the country’s 54th budget and the first under the caretaker government led by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

At 3 PM on Monday, Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed will present the national budget amounting to Tk 7.9 trillion. The budget focuses on key priorities such as job creation, inflation control, business facilitation, financial discipline, and restoring economic stability.

Following the popular uprising that led to the removal of Sheikh Hasina’s government, the interim government under Nobel laureate Dr. Yunus is working to stabilize the economy despite mounting challenges. The 2025-26 budget aims to strengthen social safety nets, encourage private investment and foreign direct investment (FDI), and fully restore financial order amid global and domestic uncertainties.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed’s budget speech will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar at 3 PM. Private TV and radio stations have been requested to use BTV’s official feed for simultaneous broadcast.
