Afroza Abbas takes charge as Chairperson of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha

Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal president Afroza Abbas formally assumed office as chairperson of the Jatiya Mahila Sangstha on Thursday (September 10).

She began official duties around 10am, confirming the development herself.

The Ministry of Public Administration appointed Abbas to the post on June 16 through an official notification. The appointment is honorary and will remain effective for two years from the date she joins office.

The government, however, may cancel the appointment at any time before the end of the term, while Abbas may also resign from the position at any time, according to the notification.

At the time of her appointment, Abbas was in Malaysia accompanying her husband, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, who was receiving medical treatment there. She returned to Bangladesh with her husband on September 2 after nearly five months.
