Ahsan Habib Polash takes charge as new RAB DG
Additional IGP Md Ahsan Habib Polash has assumed charge as the 12th Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday, March 28. He succeeds former DG retired Additional IGP A K M Shahidur Rahman.
Earlier, a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs on March 16 appointed Ahsan Habib, who was DIG (Supernumerary Additional IGP) of Chattogram Range, as the new RAB DG.
Ahsan Habib Polash joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police through the 15th BCS batch in 1995. He completed his basic training from the Police Academy in Rajshahi. Throughout his career, he has served with distinction in various important units of Bangladesh Police.
He has served in different capacities in APBn, DMP, CMP and SMP, as well as in Rangamati, Shariatpur and Narayanganj districts. He also served with distinction in administrative and investigation activities at PBI headquarters for a long time. Following his promotion, he served as DIG of Chattogram Range.
He has experience serving in UN peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan. In recognition of his service to Bangladesh Police, he has been awarded the 'Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service)'.
In his academic life, Ahsan Habib Polash obtained a BSS (Honours) and MSc from Dhaka University. He has also undergone various training programmes in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia.
