AI-powered 'auto fine' system on Dhaka-Chattogram highway from Aug 18
The Highway Police will introduce an AI-powered 'auto fine system' on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway to enforce traffic rules. The initiative will begin on Tuesday, August 18.
The Highway Police headquarters confirmed this in a press release on Saturday. The system will use AI cameras to automatically detect traffic violations such as speeding, illegal parking and wrong-way driving.
Once a violation is detected, a fine and case information will be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner. The owner can then pay the fine through mobile financial services like bKash or Nagad.
The Highway Police said the system will make traffic enforcement faster, more transparent and more efficient, and sought cooperation from passengers, transport owners and labour leaders to ensure its successful implementation.
