The controversial albino buffalo known as 'Donald Trump', which was bought for sacrifice, was not slaughtered at the last minute. The Ministry of Livestock has decided to preserve this rare animal and transfer it to the Mirpur National Zoo in the capital.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku confirmed the matter.

It is learned that the Keraniganj Model Police Station handed over the buffalo through the Dhaka District Livestock Department. Later, it was taken from the buyer for 330 thousand taka and transferred to the zoo.

The Livestock Department said that the buffalo is extremely rare because it is albino. Therefore, it was decided to keep it in the zoo for the sake of research and biodiversity conservation.

A representative of the buyer said that they had bought the buffalo for the purpose of sacrifice, but since it was later identified as a rare species, they welcomed the government's conservation initiative.

State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku highlighted the issue in his Facebook post and said that special measures have been taken for the animal at the zoo and round-the-clock care has been ordered.

He also said that the Prime Minister has also been informed of the matter and he has given importance to the necessary initiatives to preserve rare animals.

In all, instead of sacrifice, this rare albino buffalo will be part of the National Zoo for research and display.
