Ali Hossain temporarily expelled from DU for threatening female student
Ali Hossain has been expelled from Dhaka University for six months for threatening BM Fahmida Alam on social media using extremely offensive language.
The information was released on Wednesday (September 3) through a notice signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Director (Acting) of the Public Relations Office of Dhaka University.
The notice stated that Ali Hossain, a student of the Sociology Department (2020–2021 session), was expelled for attacking and threatening a female student on social media in an obscene manner.
The expulsion decision was taken based on the recommendation of the Proctorial Investigation Committee formed to look into the matter.
It is noted that this is the maximum punishment within the proctor’s authority as per university rules. Ali Hossain’s class roll is 54, and his registration number is 2020212768. He is a resident student of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall. The complaint against him has also been forwarded to the university’s Sexual Harassment Committee.
