All educational institutions to remain closed Wednesday for Fateha-e-Yazdaham

All educational institutions across the country will remain closed on Wednesday, September 23, for Fateha-e-Yazdaham, according to the Education Ministry’s latest revised holiday schedule.

The Ministry of Education issued the revised notification on Sunday (September 20), changing the holiday date in the 2026 academic calendar. Classes and administrative activities will resume as usual on Thursday, September 24.

The holiday had initially been scheduled for September 24. However, following the Islamic Foundation’s decision based on the sighting of the moon, Fateha-e-Yazdaham will be observed on September 23 this year. The educational holiday was therefore brought forward by one day.

Under the revised schedule, students, teachers and staff are expected to attend their institutions as usual on Thursday. Friday and Saturday will then bring the regular weekly break.

However, individual institutions may declare Thursday a holiday by using the head of the institution’s reserved leave, where applicable. In such cases, students and teachers could have a four-day break from Wednesday through Saturday.

Thursday is not an automatic holiday and will depend on the decision of the respective institution’s authorities.
