All must work to fulfil dreams of 1971 and 2024 martyrs: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on every citizen to fulfil their responsibilities from their respective positions to build the Bangladesh envisioned by the martyrs of the July mass uprising. He said, "Those who sacrificed for the country in the 1971 Liberation War and the 2024 mass uprising had one primary goal: to establish people's rights. We must fight to build a Bangladesh where every person's basic needs are met and everyone can live in peace."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a special event organised by Bangladesh Scouts to honour and provide financial assistance to the families of martyrs from the July mass uprising, held at the Cabinet Division conference room at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said, "Those who sacrificed their lives in the July mass uprising had the goal of bringing positive change to the country. None of us has the ability to repay the debt of their sacrifice. They gave their lives to achieve a noble purpose. To ensure their due dignity, we cannot simply remain limited to remembrance; all of us who are alive must work for the welfare of the people from our respective positions."

Addressing the members of Bangladesh Scouts at the event, the Prime Minister said scouts must always cultivate the mentality of standing by the country and its people. He advised them to dedicate themselves to the welfare of ordinary people while maintaining a good relationship with nature, and to inspire other citizens to join this noble work.

At the event, the Prime Minister handed over special honour medals and financial assistance cheques to 10 members of the families of Bangladesh Scouts martyrs from the July mass uprising.

In his presidential address, Bangladesh Scouts President Nasimul Ghani stressed the importance of presenting the history of the bravery and sacrifice of the July martyrs to the new generation. He strongly demanded that the contributions of the martyrs be included in the national curriculum.

Among others present at the event were Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, State Minister for Education Boby Hajjaj, the Prime Minister's Adviser for Education, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Labour and Employment Dr Mahdi Amin, along with members of the martyrs' families.
