All private Dakhil, Alim madrasa ad-hoc committees dissolved

The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has dissolved all existing ad-hoc committees of private Dakhil and Alim madrasas across the country. The board has also directed authorities to form new ad-hoc committees within 15 working days, following the revised regulations and obtaining necessary approvals.

A notification signed by Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board Registrar Professor S M Tawhiduzzaman on Sunday (August 2) confirmed the decision.

According to the notification, the decision was taken in light of the directive issued on July 30 by the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry of Education. The board announced the dissolution of existing ad-hoc committees of all private Dakhil and Alim madrasas, including those with expired committees, under Regulation 64 of the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board (Managing Committee and Governing Body of Dakhil and Alim Level Private Madrasas) Regulations, 2025.

The board has also outlined the procedures and conditions for forming new ad-hoc committees in accordance with the revised regulations (SRO No. 89-Law/2026).

According to the directive, the head of the institution (principal or superintendent) will propose a panel of three members for the chairman of the new ad-hoc committee through the local Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC). The panel is to be prepared from among education enthusiasts, renowned social workers, public representatives, or serving or retired government officials of 9th grade or above. The proposal, along with nominations for other members, must then be sent to the concerned education board.

For Dakhil and Alim madrasas in city corporation areas, separate provisions apply. Proposals for ad-hoc committees for these institutions must be sent to the concerned education board through the Divisional Commissioner.

The Madrasa Education Board said emergency directives have been sent to the principals, superintendents, managing committee members and concerned district and upazila education officers of all private Dakhil and Alim madrasas. They have been instructed to take necessary action accordingly.
