An all-party resistance rally has begun at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, protesting the shooting attack on Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi. The rally formally started at 3pm on Monday, December 15, with leaders and activists from various political parties as well as social and cultural organisations participating.

On the ground, it was seen that the presence of activists began increasing in the Shaheed Minar area even before the rally started. Preparations at the venue were visible from early afternoon, including setting up the stage and arranging chairs. Gradually, the Shaheed Minar premises turned into a large protest gathering amid the activities of organisers from different groups.

During the rally, participants continuously raised protest slogans, including “We will all become Hadi, we will speak truth to power”, “Naraye Takbir—Allahu Akbar”, and “One Hadi may shed blood, but a hundred thousand Hadis will rise”. They also demanded justice for the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi and called for the swift trial of those involved.

Ahead of the formal start, songs and poetry recitations were organised on the stage, condemning the attack and highlighting opposition to violence in democratic politics. Through music and poetry, speakers voiced resistance against violent politics and called for peaceful political practices.

Many participants present at the rally strongly condemned the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi and demanded the identification and speedy trial of the attackers. Speakers repeatedly stressed that there is no place for violence in political expression.

Organisers said the rally aims to register a united and clear stance against the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi and against violence in democratic politics. They added that political differences may exist, but they must never turn into violence.
