AL's special extended meeting underway

The ruling Awami League is holding a special extended meeting at Ganabhaban on Saturday. The meeting, chaired by Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, started at just 10:30 am.

Party's national committee, central working committee, advisory council, presidents and general secretaries of district, city, upazila, thana, municipality, lawmakers of Awami League and independent, zilla and upazila parishad mayors who elected in AL ticket and presidents and general secretaries of central committee of AL associate bodies joined it.

Marking the meeting, Dhaka Metropolitan Police has taken special measures for traffic management on that day. As per the directive, invited guests entered the gate number one of Ganabhaban through Bijoy Sharani and Lake Road of Jatiya Sangsad.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday told the media, "The election was free and fair. Independent candidates took part in the election for strategic reasons. A total of 62 Independent candidates were elected in the election. But they also belong to Awami League."

He said, "During the election, some misunderstandings, disagreements, conflicts and conflicts have also created among themselves. The party needs strong unity to put an end to these issues and implement the election manifesto. This special extended meeting is organized to create a united atmosphere among all."

"We should forget everything and focus on upazila, city and union parishad elections. Special extended meetings have been organized to create an atmosphere of unity among all," he added.
