Ambulance owners withdraw strike after government assurance

The Bangladesh Ambulance Owners Welfare Association has withdrawn its indefinite nationwide strike after receiving government assurances that its key demands will be reviewed and addressed within 30 days.

The announcement came at a press briefing held at the NAM Building in the capital on Tuesday night (July 28).

Addressing the briefing, Nationalist Labour Party chief coordinator and Member of Parliament Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas said the authorities would examine the association's demands within the next month and take necessary steps to implement those found to be reasonable.

The association's chief adviser, Md Golam Mostafa Fuad, said the strike was withdrawn to ease public suffering and in good faith based on the government's commitment.

He also urged all ambulance owners and drivers across the country to resume normal services immediately.

Earlier, the association had enforced an indefinite strike to press home its five-point demand, including the introduction of commercial registration for ambulances, implementation of the existing ambulance policy, designated parking facilities, toll-free movement on bridges and highways, and uninterrupted fuel supply.
