Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud has said that the Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) will play a vital role in strengthening security during the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

He made the remarks on Monday, November 3, while addressing the election security drill and the fourth-phase training programme for Ansar company and platoon members.

Major General Sazzad Mahmud stated, “Compared to any previous election, the Ansar force will play a more active role this time. We will provide all possible support to the Election Commission. Ansar members will assist not only on polling day but also during campaign activities. In addition, they will help raise public awareness about voting procedures.”

He added that the Ansar force is being specially trained to ensure polling security and to address potential challenges. “Those with complaints or allegations against them will be excluded from duty and will not be assigned any election responsibilities,” he said.

The Director General further noted that Ansar duties for this election will be distributed through digital registration. Around five lakh (500,000) Ansar members will be deployed for election duties. Over the past year, 145,000 new members have been recruited and given basic training, which will continue through December.
