Anti-liberation forces active in new form: Mirza Fakhrul
The anti-liberation forces that opposed Bangladesh's independence in 1971 and collaborated with the Pakistani army are now trying to become active in politics in a new guise, BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
Speaking at a discussion organised by BNP at the Institution of Engineers auditorium in the capital on Friday, marking the Great Independence Day, he called for resisting these anti-liberation forces.
"Those who opposed Bangladesh's independence in 1971 and collaborated with the Pakistani army are now trying to become active in politics in a new guise," he said.
"These anti-liberation forces must be resisted. They cannot be given any leeway. We must remain united to counter any assault on independence and democracy," he added.
The BNP secretary general urged party leaders and activists to defeat all conspiracies and anti-liberation forces and strengthen the leadership of acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
