Anyone attacking female workers will face harsh penalties: Jamaat Ameer
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged people to refrain from violence against female workers, emphasising their protection and dignity as a core party responsibility.
Speaking at a women’s rally in Mirpur, Dhaka-15, he said, “Respect mothers—our mothers’ lives are priceless. Those who fail to do so should be ready for the consequences.”
Dr. Shafiqur highlighted that working outside the home and holding jobs are consistent with Islamic principles, and women’s rights must be safeguarded.
He also criticised the youth stipend programme as insufficient, calling instead for proper education, language skills, and employment opportunities.
The Jamaat leader promised initiatives for women, including bus services, daycare, and baby care centers, if elected. Addressing men, he stressed the importance of respecting spouses and combating theft and corruption, claiming that effective governance could transform the country within five years.
During his campaign, Dr. Shafiqur also urged voters to support the “Yes” option in the referendum, framing it as a choice between freedom and subjugation, and warning against the dominance of any single political group in Bangladesh.
