Appointment of Chief Adviser’s Principal Secretary Siraj Uddin cancelled
The government has cancelled the remaining tenure of M Siraj Uddin Mia as Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser following his resignation.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Monday night (February 17) confirming the cancellation of his contractual appointment.
Siraj Uddin had earlier submitted his resignation letter to the Chief Adviser. Officials said the decision to revoke his remaining term was taken in light of his resignation.
On Saturday, the government also cancelled the remaining contractual tenure of former Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid after he stepped down. The same day, Siraj Uddin was given the additional responsibility of Cabinet Secretary through a separate notification.
However, he submitted his resignation just two days after assuming the additional role.
A former civil servant, Siraj Uddin was appointed Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser on a two-year contract on Oct 2, 2024, with his tenure set to run until September 2026. The appointment has now been terminated before completion of the term.
