The remaining tenures of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moynul Islam and former secretary Dr M Mahfuzul Haque, who were appointed as ambassadors during the interim government's tenure, have been cancelled.

Separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday, April 22, confirmed the decision.

Md Moynul Islam was appointed as Bangladesh's ambassador to Poland on a contractual basis on April 10, 2025. Dr M Mahfuzul Haque was appointed as ambassador to Portugal on September 19, 2024. The remaining periods of their contractual appointments will be considered cancelled following the government's latest order.

Earlier, on March 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a directive recalling four ambassadors, including Moynul Islam and Mahfuzul Haque, from their posts. Following that directive, the Ministry of Public Administration has now formally cancelled the remaining contractual tenures as part of the administrative process.

It is noteworthy that during the interim government's tenure, various key positions are being reshuffled and previous contractual appointments are being reviewed as part of administrative and diplomatic reforms. In continuation of this, the notifications cancelling the appointments of these two ambassadors have been issued.
