Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman left Dhaka on Saturday (October 3) for a nine-day official visit to Australia and the United States, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In the first leg of his tour, the army chief will attend the Chief of Army Symposium and Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026 in Perth, Australia. He is also scheduled to visit Deakin University in Melbourne.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman will then travel to Washington, DC, to attend the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition.

During the visit, he is expected to hold courtesy meetings with senior defence officials and other key figures in Australia and the United States and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

He will also visit several military installations in the two countries, ISPR said.

The visit is expected to strengthen defence cooperation and further deepen Bangladesh’s bilateral relations with Australia and the United States, according to the military’s media wing.
