Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman departed Dhaka on Sunday (June 28) for a five-day official visit to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release. During the visit, General Waker-Uz-Zaman will hold bilateral meetings with senior defence officials and key figures in both countries, focusing on strengthening defence relations and expanding the scope of mutual military cooperation between Bangladesh and the two Central European nations. He is expected to return home next week upon conclusion of the tour, ISPR added.

পাঁচ দিনের সরকারি সফরে চেক রিপাবলিক ও স্লোভাকিয়ার উদ্দেশে ঢাকা ছেড়েছেন বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান। রোববার (২৮ জুন) তিনি এই দুই দেশের উদ্দেশে রওনা হন। আন্তঃবাহিনী জনসংযোগ পরিদপ্তর (আইএসপিআর) এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে। আইএসপিআর জানায়, সফরকালে সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান চেক রিপাবলিক ও স্লোভাকিয়ার প্রতিরক্ষা সংশ্লিষ্ট গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তিদের সঙ্গে দ্বিপাক্ষিক বৈঠকে মিলিত হবেন। এসব বৈঠকে দুই দেশের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের প্রতিরক্ষা সম্পর্ক আরও জোরদার এবং পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধির বিভিন্ন দিক নিয়ে আলোচনা হওয়ার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে। পাঁচ দিনের এই সফর শেষে সেনাপ্রধান আগামী সপ্তাহে দেশে ফিরবেন বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে।
