Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has left for Turkey on a five-day official visit on Sunday morning, July 19, at the invitation of the Turkish government. During the visit, the army chief will visit various Turkish defence industry establishments. He will also hold courtesy meetings and exchange views with senior officials of the Turkish armed forces and key defence sector figures to further strengthen defence cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey. The visit is expected to further solidify the existing defence ties between the two countries and create new opportunities for military cooperation, technology exchange and mutual partnerships in the defence industry.

বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান পাঁচ দিনের সরকারি সফরে তুরস্ক গেছেন। তুরস্ক সরকারের আমন্ত্রণে রোববার (১৯ জুলাই) সকালে তিনি ঢাকার উদ্দেশে দেশটি ত্যাগ করেন। আইএসপিআরের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, সফরকালে সেনাপ্রধান তুরস্কের বিভিন্ন প্রতিরক্ষা শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন করবেন। পাশাপাশি বাংলাদেশ ও তুরস্কের মধ্যকার প্রতিরক্ষা সহযোগিতা আরও জোরদারের লক্ষ্যে দেশটির সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা এবং প্রতিরক্ষা খাতের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তিদের সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ ও মতবিনিময় করবেন। এ সফরের মাধ্যমে দুই দেশের বিদ্যমান প্রতিরক্ষা সম্পর্ক আরও সুদৃঢ় হবে এবং সামরিক সহযোগিতা, প্রযুক্তি বিনিময় ও প্রতিরক্ষা শিল্পে পারস্পরিক অংশীদারিত্বের নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হবে বলে আশা করছে সংশ্লিষ্ট মহল।
