Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned to the country on Friday, July 3, after completing an official visit to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, according to a press release. During the visit, the army chief held meetings and exchanged views with top defence and military officials of both countries to strengthen bilateral defence relations and cooperation. He also visited various military institutions and defence industrial establishments. The army chief had left Dhaka on June 28 for the official visit.

চেক রিপাবলিক ও স্লোভাকিয়ায় সরকারি সফর শেষে দেশে ফিরেছেন বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান জেনারেল ওয়াকার-উজ-জামান। আজ শুক্রবার (৩ জুলাই) তিনি দেশে ফেরেন বলে এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে জানানো হয়েছে। বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়, সফরকালে দ্বিপাক্ষিক প্রতিরক্ষা সম্পর্ক ও সহযোগিতা জোরদারের লক্ষ্যে উভয় দেশের প্রতিরক্ষা ও সামরিক খাতের শীর্ষস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিদের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ ও মতবিনিময় করেন সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান। পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন সামরিক প্রতিষ্ঠান ও প্রতিরক্ষা শিল্প-স্থাপনাও পরিদর্শন করেন তিনি। উল্লেখ্য, গত ২৮ জুন সরকারি সফরে চেক রিপাবলিক ও স্লোভাকিয়ার উদ্দেশে ঢাকা ছেড়েছিলেন সেনাবাহিনী প্রধান।
