Army Chief stresses citizen-friendly conduct while performing election duties

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has emphasised the importance of professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly behaviour while performing duties during the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum.

He gave the directives on Sunday while inspecting the activities of army personnel deployed for the Election and Referendum 2026 in Mymensingh. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the matter in a press release.

According to ISPR, the Army Chief visited Mymensingh to assess the overall law and order situation ahead of the election and referendum and to review the progress of duties carried out by deployed army personnel under “In Aid to the Civil Power”.

During the visit, the Army Chief held a meeting at the Mymensingh City Corporation conference hall with senior military officials, representatives of various law enforcement agencies and civil administration officials. Discussions focused on inter-agency coordination and overall security arrangements to ensure a peaceful, fair and neutral parliamentary election.

At the meeting, the Army Chief once again stressed maintaining professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly conduct while performing duties.

Later, he laid the foundation stone of the Olympic Village in Trishal and attended a board meeting of the Olympic Association.

During the Mymensingh visit, senior officials including the General Officer Commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army, the GOC of the 19 Infantry Division and Ghatail Area Commander, the Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre, the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, senior officers from Army Headquarters and Ghatail Area, as well as the Divisional Commissioner of Mymensingh, senior civil and law enforcement officials and representatives of various media outlets were present.
