The Bangladesh Army will be deployed as a striking force during the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections to ensure a peaceful and secure voting environment.

The decision was finalised at a meeting of returning officers held on Tuesday (August 26), Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin confirmed.

“The army will cordon off the polling centers until results are officially announced,” said Dr. Jasim Uddin. “This measure is intended to prevent any external interference and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.”

Additional security measures include the closure of the Dhaka University Metrorail Station on election day and a restriction on outsider entry into student halls, effective seven days before the election.

Meanwhile, official campaigning for both DUCSU and Hall Sangsad elections began today.

The Election Commission has issued guidelines regarding the use of posters, leaflets, and handbills, urging all candidates to strictly follow the approved schedule and code of conduct.
