Arrest warrants for Hasina, 30 others sent to security chiefs

The International Crimes Tribunal has sent arrest warrants for 30 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, to 12 offices of responsible security forces, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP), in connection with two enforced disappearance cases


On Thursday morning (October 9), the tribunal’s registrar office confirmed the information.


Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam stated that the arrest warrants issued against the 30 accused in two cases were dispatched to the IGP and 12 departments yesterday afternoon.


The 12 departments include: Chief of Army Staff, Chief of General Staff, Adjutant General (Army Headquarters), Director General of DGFI, Director General of NSI, Principal Staff Officer (Armed Forces Division), Secretary to the Chief Advisor’s Office, Director of Military Intelligence, Director of Personnel Services Directorate (Bangladesh Army), Commandant of Army Security Unit, Provost Marshal, and CEO (Army MP Unit for Information)


Earlier, on Wednesday (October 8), Tribunal-1 issued arrest warrants against 17 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, in a case involving crimes against humanity related to enforced disappearances. On the same day, another case filed with JIC also led to arrest warrants against 13 individuals, including Hasina. That morning, the prosecution formally submitted charges in both cases.
