ASI Sheikh Afzalul wants to be prosecution witness

Sheikh Afzalul Haque, former Assistant Sub-Inspector of Ashulia Police Station and an accused in the Ashulia body-burning case, has applied to testify as a witness.

He submitted this application to the tribunal on Thursday (August 21).

On the other hand, a 3-member tribunal led by Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal-2, has ordered the trial of 16 people, including absconding former MP Saiful, in this case.

Additionally, the tribunal also issued arrest warrants against 8 absconding accused in this case. Two state-appointed lawyers are representing them in the tribunal.

Earlier, on August 13, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 set today for the charge-framing order after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.
