Assistant Attorney General resigns four days into appointment

Md Mahfuzur Rahman has resigned from the post of Assistant Attorney General (AAG) just four days after his appointment. He submitted his resignation to the Law Minister, citing personal reasons for being unable to perform his duties.

Mahfuzur Rahman submitted his resignation at the Solicitor's Office on Monday (August 3) morning.

In his resignation letter, he stated that due to personal reasons, he was unable to perform the duties of Assistant Attorney General. He therefore requested to be relieved of his duties by voluntarily resigning.

On July 30, the government appointed 179 lawyers as Assistant Attorneys General and 86 lawyers as Deputy Attorneys General (DAG). Mahfuzur Rahman was among those in the list.

Earlier, the appointments of all previously appointed Deputy Attorneys General and Assistant Attorneys General were cancelled and new appointments were made. On July 30, the Solicitor Wing of the Ministry of Law issued separate notifications in this regard.
