Assistant registrar sacked for tarnishing Supreme Court, Chief Justice's image
The Supreme Court administration has dismissed Assistant Registrar (Civil-1) of the High Court Division, Ibrahim Alam Bhuiyan, from service after allegations of tarnishing the image of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice and other judges through Facebook posts were proven.
This information was confirmed in a notification on Wednesday (July 15). Earlier, on July 14, a notification signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui was issued dismissing him from service.
The notification said the allegations brought against Ibrahim Alam Bhuiyan, who was on suspension, in a departmental proceeding have been proven beyond doubt in accordance with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court) Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1983. Consequently, he has been dismissed from service effective from July 14.
Earlier, on May 5, he was placed on suspension. At that time, the Supreme Court administration's notification stated that Ibrahim Alam Bhuiyan had used unacceptable language in Facebook posts about the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice and other judges, thereby tarnishing their image.
Additionally, allegations were brought against him that he used Supreme Court employees for personal interests to spread false and untrue information about the institution, the Chief Justice and other judges on social media and various mass media, thereby tarnishing the institutional image.
The notification further said he incited other employees to disobey the lawful orders of the Supreme Court administration, creating chaos in the office, which is considered gross misconduct under the disciplinary rules. Based on these allegations, a decision was taken to dismiss him from service after the conclusion of the departmental inquiry.
