Atiqul-Palak shown arrested in new case
Former Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam and former ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak have been arrested (arrested) in the murder case of businessman Istiak Mahmud of Uttara Purba Police Station in the capital's anti-discrimination mass movement.
The accused were produced before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and the investigation officers of the case requested to shown them arrested. After the hearing, the court of Metropolitan Magistrate MA Mizbah Ur Rahman granted it.
Atiq's case alleges that on July 18 last year, businessman Istiak Mahmud participated in an anti-discrimination movement program in front of Azampur Nawab Habibullah High School in Sector 4 of Uttara Purba Police Station. Istiak was shot in the stomach in the attack and firing by Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League. He filed the case on October 29 last year after receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital.
Palak's case alleges that on July 19 last year, during the July Mass Movement, the driver Md. Hossain was parking a freight truck in Gabtoli and going to his rented house. At around 2:30 pm, the bullets fired by the accused in front of Hossain Market in Chand Udyan pierced his left side of the chest. The next day, at 3 am, the deceased's mother Rina Begum saw her son's body lying on the road. She filed a murder case in this incident at Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31 last year.
