Attack on Kakrail office a blow to democratic norms: JaPa
Jatiya Party Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud has strongly condemned the vandalism and arson at the party’s central office in Kakrail, Dhaka, calling it a direct attack on the democratic process, political tolerance, and the rule of law.
In a statement on Saturday (September 6), he criticized the interim government for failing to maintain law and order and ensuring the safety of political offices, leaders, and activists. “Those involved in these destructive activities are destabilizing the country and pushing it towards anarchy,” he said.
Mahmud warned that continued deterioration of law and order could undermine the prospects of free and fair national elections.
He also expressed gratitude to political parties, civil society, and media personnel, including the BNP, for condemning the attack.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continue its struggle for democracy, peace, and development, saying it would not be intimidated by any conspiracy or oppression.
