Attempt to snatch accused: 5 cops hurt in capital

New Market police arrested a Chhatra Dal leader on charges of involvement in the attack on a businessman on Elephant Road.

He was brought to the police station early Friday. His supporters attacked the police to kidnap the Chhatra Dal leader. Five officers, including the AC of the New Market zone of the police, were injured in the incident.

Ramna Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Masud Alam told the media that the incident occurred on Friday (January 24) morning.

It is learned that miscreants hacked and injured two businessmen in front of the Multiplan Center on Elephant Road on the night of January 10. The next day, on January 11, a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The injured are Ehtesamul Haque, joint convener of the Multiplan Center Business Owners Association, and Wahidul Hasan Dipu, president of the Elephant Road Computer Business Owners Welfare Association and senior joint convener of the Multiplan Center Business Owners
