Auto-rickshaw driver killed after pickup van hits vehicle in Lalbagh

Auto-rickshaw driver Amzad Hossain, 68, was killed after a pickup van hit his vehicle on the road in front of Azimpur Orphanage in Lalbagh, Dhaka.

The accident occurred at around 6:45 am on Friday, February 20. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

Amzad Hossain hailed from Jainki village in Dohar upazila of Dhaka district. His father’s name was Dhola Mia. He had been living in a rented house in the Farmgate area with his family.

The victim’s son, Sakib, said his father had left home with his auto-rickshaw in the morning as usual. A speeding pickup van hit the vehicle in front of Azimpur Orphanage and fled the scene.

The in-charge inspector of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
