BAJUS seeks 10 year 'tax holiday' for gold refinery

Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) has sought ten-year tax holiday for gold refinery to flourish the industry.

The trade body also demanded reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) from 5 to 3 percent on retail sales of gold, silver and diamond ornaments.

The leaders made the call while placing pre-budget recommendations at National Board of Revenue building on Thursday.

They also demanded the installation of Electronic Fiscal Devices at 40,000 jewellery outlets across the country.

During the talk, the NBR authorities asked the officials concerned to collect information about these organisation's incom tax return submission status.
