Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, was reportedly threatened outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi on Saturday night (December 20).

The incident occurred at the main gate of the mission.

Bangladesh Press Minister in Delhi, Md Faisal Mahmud, said that between 8:30pm and 8:45pm, several individuals arrived in three vehicles and shouted slogans at the gate. They spoke in a mix of Bengali and Hindi, reportedly demanding “protection for Hindus” and urging to “capture the High Commissioner.” The group stayed briefly before leaving.

When asked if the threats included an attempt on the High Commissioner’s life, the Press Minister said the individuals made menacing statements, including remarks such as “If Hindus are killed, we will kill all of you.”

Following the incident, High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah held an urgent meeting with the mission’s Defence Wing.

A Defence Wing official confirmed that the individuals left after shouting, causing no physical harm or damage.
