Bangladesh has pledged to ensure justice following the disappearance and deaths of two Bangladeshi students studying at the University of South Florida in the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to this effect on Sunday, April 26.

The statement said the Bangladesh Embassy and Consulate established close communication with relevant US authorities immediately after Zamil Ahmed Limon and Nahida Sultana Bristy went missing.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC and the Consulate General in Miami said they have been maintaining continuous contact with local law enforcement, the university administration, and investigating agencies.

The body of Zamil Ahmed Limon has been recovered. The Miami Consulate is working with local funeral authorities and other relevant parties to bring the body back to Bangladesh quickly. However, as there are restrictions on transporting the body via Tampa to Dubai, alternative routes are also being considered.

Bangladesh missions are continuing regular contact with US authorities to obtain new information regarding the missing Nahida Sultana Bristy.

The statement added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, and the Consulate General in Miami are maintaining round-the-clock contact with the families.

Meanwhile, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has informed the Bangladesh Embassy that a suspect has been detained in connection with the incident and two first-degree murder charges have been filed against him. Details have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.

The government of Bangladesh has expressed deep grief over the incident and has pledged to ensure justice through coordination with relevant US authorities.
