Bangladesh Railway warns against fake ticket links on Facebook

Bangladesh Railway has begun selling advance train tickets 14 days ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Under the special arrangement, ticket sales started on Tuesday, March 3.

Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against those involved if any fake or unauthorised links are circulated on Facebook in the name of ticket sales.

The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting on operating special trains for Eid at Rail Bhaban in the capital.

The meeting stated that any suspicious links for ticket sales on social media must be promptly reported to law enforcement agencies. Instructions have been given to specifically inform the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Security Force (RNF).

Security is being strengthened at major stations to ensure a hassle-free Eid journey. Increased surveillance will be in place at important stations including Dhaka, Airport, Joydebpur, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Khulna. Alongside GRP and RNF, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and local police will perform duties jointly.
