Bangladesh has emerged as a stable country for investment, while inflation is moving in a positive direction, Prime Minister’s Adviser and PM’s Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin said on Wednesday (September 16).

Speaking at a special press conference at the Prime Minister’s Tejgaon Office, Amin said prices of essential commodities had declined and diesel prices in Bangladesh were lower than in many other countries.

He also said gas pressure had improved following the prime minister’s assurance to business leaders and media representatives that steps would be taken to address the problem.

Highlighting the government’s recent initiatives, Amin said technical education had been made compulsory up to Class VI and an initiative had been taken to establish a public university in Cox’s Bazar focused on blue-economy research.

He said rooftop gardening programmes had also been introduced at educational institutions across the country.

Amin further said the government had implemented a pay scale ranging from Tk 20,000 to Tk 156,000 for eligible financial benefits and enacted a law governing property inheritance.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibly, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman and senior officials were present at the briefing.
