Bangladesh records 7 dengue deaths in 24hrs

Seven people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,593 new patients were hospitalised during the same period, the highest single-day admission figure recorded this year.

The latest deaths have raised the country's dengue death toll to 164 this year, according to a press release issued today (15 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the seven deaths reported in the latest 24-hour period, one each was recorded in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Barishal, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions, while two were reported in Khulna Division.

Meanwhile, 1,566 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 50,941.

The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 55,163.
