Bangladesh to import diesel worth Tk 14.6 billion from India

The government has approved the import of 180,000 tonnes of diesel from India at a cost of Tk 14.61 billion. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Purchase on Tuesday, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.

The diesel will be imported from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) between January and December under a term agreement. The purchase price is set at USD 119.13 million.

Bangladesh has been importing diesel from India under a long-term agreement since 2016, with supplies delivered via the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline since March 2023.
