Bangladesh has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and demanded accountability for the atrocities committed by Israel, as part of its continued support for peace and justice in the region.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain made the call during a meeting with the visiting Chief Justice of Palestine, Dr Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, at the State Guest House Padma on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

Adviser Touhid reaffirmed Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and reiterated the country's firm stance on a two-state solution, based on the pre-1967 borders.

“The people of Palestine deserve peace, dignity, and justice. Bangladesh stands firmly with them,” Touhid stated.

In response, Chief Justice Al-Habbash expressed deep gratitude to the government and people of Bangladesh for their longstanding and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He also emphasized the need for greater unity among Muslim nations in addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Dr Al-Habbash is currently on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh.
