Bangladesh won't interfere in any country's internal affairs: FM

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has said Bangladesh will maintain its independence and sovereignty intact and will not interfere in the internal affairs of any country.

Speaking to journalists after meetings with ambassadors from various countries at the Foreign Ministry on Monday, February 23, he said the cornerstone of the new government's foreign policy is 'Bangladesh First'. Policies will be formulated prioritising national interest and dignity.

He informed that meetings have already been held with ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, China, India, Pakistan, the United States and the European Union. In these meetings, foreign diplomats expressed interest in working closely with Bangladesh.

The Foreign Minister said mutually beneficial relations will be developed with all countries based on mutual interest and respect. All bilateral issues will be resolved respectfully while maintaining friendly relations.

He added that the meetings so far have been held in a courteous and positive atmosphere. Some time will be needed to advance specific issue-based discussions in the future, and the government will work to implement a dynamic foreign policy.
