Bangladeshi dies while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia

A Bangladeshi pilgrim has died while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia, according to the latest Hajj bulletin issued on Wednesday (April 22).

The deceased was identified as Naim Uddin Mondal, 75, from Joypurhat Sadar upazila.

According to the bulletin, a total of 20,553 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far arrived in in Saudi Arabia through 51 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudi Airlines, and Flynas.

Among them, 7,855 pilgrims arrived on 19 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 7,015 on 18 flights of Saudi Airlines, and 5,693 on 14 flights of Flynas. Of the total arrivals, 2,830 are under government management and 17,693 under private management.

The Hajj operations began on April 18 with the first dedicated flight carrying 419 pilgrims. The outbound flights will continue until May 21.

The return flights are scheduled to begin on May 30 and will continue until June 30.

This year, 5,565 pilgrims are performing Hajj under government management, while 73,935 are travelling under private arrangements.
