Bangladesh-Pakistan agree to resolve unresolved issues: Foreign Adviser
Bangladesh and Pakistan have agreed to address their outstanding issues through dialogue, aiming to develop a strong bilateral ties.
The development comes after a meeting held at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka on Sunday (August 24), the Foreign Affairs Adviser confirmed this at a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital following the meeting.
Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain led the host delegation, while Pakistan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Touhid Hossain said, "You can’t expect a 54-year-old issue to be resolved in a single day. This is the first meeting of its kind in nearly 12 or 13 years, so expecting to settle everything in an hour isn’t realistic. However, we have clearly conveyed our position."
"Three issues were discussed, and both countries agreed that two of them must be resolved. To ensure smooth bilateral relations, the remaining issue should also be gradually addressed," he added.
Expressing optimism about future dialogue, the Foreign Affairs Adviser said, "Both sides have shared their positions and agreed to move forward. We will work to resolve these outstanding issues step by step."
