Education and Primary Education Adviser Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has said the “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor” would create a new horizon of cooperation in higher education and research between the two countries.

Speaking at the inauguration of the second phase launch and Education Expo-2026 of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor in Dhaka on Monday (May 11), he said expanded student and faculty exchange programmes could further strengthen bilateral ties.

The minister said 74 Bangladeshi students are already pursuing higher studies in Pakistan under the programme’s first phase, while the second phase will offer broader opportunities for talented students.

Describing Pakistani universities as academically advanced, he noted that Bangladeshi students are receiving opportunities to study there free of cost, along with monthly stipends to support accommodation and living expenses.

“This support will allow students to focus fully on their academic pursuits,” he said.

Highlighting cultural and social similarities between the two countries, Milon said Bangladesh currently has 116 private and 57 public universities, expressing hope that Pakistani students would also choose Bangladesh for higher education in the future.

He also stressed the need to expand joint academic collaborations and faculty exchange programmes between universities of both countries.

Praising the scholarship selection process, the minister said students are being selected through a competitive and transparent examination system. He added that the ministry would provide all necessary support in conducting examinations and facilitating the programme.

The event was attended by Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Education Secretary Abdul Khaleque, representatives of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and senior officials of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
