Banned BCL holds brisk procession at DU, 2 held
Two members of the banned Chhatra League have been detained while holding a brisk procession at the Raju Statue of Dhaka University.
One of them is a student of Dhaka University, confirmed Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed.
Dhaka University's F Rahman Hall Chhatra League organizing secretary for the 2019-20 academic year Farhan Tanvir Nasif and microbus driver Rubel Hossain were later handed over to police.
About 10-12 leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League held the procession at the foot of the Raju Statue around 6am on Saturday.
Witnesses said that in the early morning, the group suddenly went to TSC Road from Shahbagh area and held a short procession displaying banners. Slogans like 'Withdraw illegal ban', 'We want the release of prisoners' and 'Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu' were raised in the procession. After the procession, they quickly got into a black microbus and left. However, the proctorial team detained two people along with another microbus at the scene and handed them over to the police.
Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said, "Our proctorial mobile team detained a vehicle and two people and handed them over to Shahbagh Police Station. The police station will take appropriate action against them."
