The Bangladesh Bar Council has set 35 years as the maximum age for candidates seeking enrolment as lawyers.

Bangladesh Bar Council, the licensing & regularity body for all advocates of Bangladesh issued a public notice in this connection on October 26.

Signed by Bangladesh Bar Council Secretary Mohammad Kamal Hossain Sikder, a district and sessions judge, the public notice said the council has adopted the decision, taken at its meeting on August 19, to set the maximum age limit for candidates seeking enrolment as lawyers at 35.

In consideration of the interests of students currently pursuing LLB degrees, the prescribed maximum age limit for candidates seeking enrolment as lawyers will come into effect from January 1, 2030.

Accordingly, the age limit will be followed in accepting enrolment applications, verifying candidates' eligibility and carrying out subsequent enrolment-related procedures from that date.
