Barisal Awami League General Secretary gets bail upon surrender

Barisal District unit Awami League General Secretary Adv. Talukder Mohammad Yunus has been granted bail upon surrender.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Barisal passed the order at 12 noon on Monday as the Awami League leader surrendered before his court and sought bail.

Qayyum Khan Kaiser, the defendant’s lawyer, confirmed this information.

Awami League Barisal District unit General Secretary Talukder Mohammad Yunus surrendered before the court in connection with a case filed by a BNP worker, court sources said.

In 2024, BNP activist Md. Sarwar Hossain filed the case with the Kotwali Model Police Station on charges of an attack on the city’s Anami Lane on May 5, 2017.

Former mayor of Barisal City Corporation and Awami League’s Barisal Metropolitan President Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, General Secretary AKM Jahangir, and District General Secretary Talukder Mohammad Yunus were among 210 people named as accused in the case.
