Barrister Sumon granted bail in two more cases

The High Court has granted bail to Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon, former MP for Habiganj-4, in cases filed with two police stations in the capital.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Md Zakir Hossain granted bail on Wednesday after disposing of the rules issued in the two cases.

Advocate M. Liton Ahmed appeared for the petitioner. He told Samakal that the court granted bail to Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon in the attempted murder cases filed with Khilgaon and Mugda police stations, maintaining the rules. Earlier, the High Court had granted him bail in three other cases. The state has filed petitions seeking stays, which are awaiting hearings. Additionally, two more cases are pending at the trial court level.

Barrister Sumon was arrested from Mirpur-6 in the capital on October 21, 2024. The former independent MP faces a total of seven cases filed in various police stations in the capital and in Habiganj.
